Heat Transfer Laboratory

The Heat Transfer Laboratory (HTLab) posits in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran, and is directed by Prof. Mehdi Maerefat and Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Heyhat. The HTLab was established in 1990, and the laboratory focuses on performing multi researches in the heat transfer field. For instance, enhancing efficiency of thermal elements, investigating multi heat transfer mechanism, enhancing heat transfer in several applications such as heat sink, solar energy and photovoltaic cells, heat exchangers, and so on. To this end, the HTLab is a state-of-the-art research facility dedicated to the heat transfer field and its application researches in the related multiple industries.

The HTLab features a vest number of computational computers and several modern experimental platforms and equipment which are benefited from measurement diagnostics instruments. Hence, the HTLab consists of two parts of the numerical simulations for the computational investigations and the experimental testing for the applicable researches. These two parts are used to conduct a variety of research and industrial projects applicating in the various industries and domestic consumptions.

As said, our research efforts over the years have focused on computational investigations of various heat transfer phenomena and technologies. Some of performed research topics are listed below:

  1. 1) Application of Nano fluids in heat transfer enhancement
  2. 2) Solar collectors
  3. 3) Application of porous media in heat transfer enhancement
  4. 4) Multiphase heat transfer
  5. 5) Heat Exchanger
  6. 6) Exergy Analyzing of several applicable thermodynamic cycles
  7. 7) Heat transfer of radiators
  8. 8) Performance of veins, kidneys, and other biologic topics
  9. 9) Phase changing materials

The Heat Transfer Laboratory (HTLab) aims to have practical projects with various industries and universities in order to improve the development level of the industry and economy of the country associating with boosting its knowledge.
